What is domestic abuse?

Domestic AbuseDomestic abuse is a serious problem that can affect anyone.

Men, women and children from all kinds of backgrounds and all age groups, religions, and different sexual orientations can experience abuse. An abuser can be a partner, ex-partner or close family member.

The abuse can be physical, emotional, psychological, financial, sexual or a combination of these. Children and young people can also be affected by domestic abuse.

There are many organisations that can offer advice and support to anyone who is experiencing domestic abuse.
