Our Aim

Our aim is for all our communities to be safe, clean and pleasant places to live, work and visit. On a local level this is to work with and alongside partners, to look at ways of reducing environmental crimes on the Oak Tree Estate such as dog fouling, littering and fly-tipping, alongside tackling low-level anti-social behaviour (ASB).

What we do

Image: Respect for MansfieldWe know that fear of crime and ASB is a concern. To reduce this, our wardens provide a uniformed presence in your area, patrolling on foot or cycle. We work six days a week, Monday to Saturday from 9am to 10pm.

We also work closely with community groups, businesses and schools, a large part of a warden’s role is community engagement.

Wardens work at the heart of communities and provide residents with a contact point to raise concerns about environmental crime and ASB.

We are part of local Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams and work closely with other Council services, such as Housing and Environmental Health and with community groups and organisations such as local housing associations.

What We Can Do To Help

ASB is unacceptable behaviour that is likely to cause harassment, Kath Spowage

alarm or distress.

Examples of this include noise that causes a nuisance to others, drug dealing, threats, harassment, hate crimes, alcohol related ASB and general nuisance such as street drinking, rowdy and intimidating behaviour.

You can report these to us and we will assess what the best course of action is to stop the problem, such as speaking to offenders, offering advice, reporting an offence to the police or referring the offender to other agencies for support.

We tackle environmental crimes such as fly-tipping, by investigating incidents and gathering evidence including CCTV footage, for either prosecution, caution or issuing a fixed penalty notice. We can issue fixed penalty notices for a range of environmental crimes including:

  • Littering
  • Fly-tipping
  • Dog-related offences, such as failing to pick up after your dog
  • Graffiti
  • Failure to produce authority to transport waste
  • Fly-Posting

Wardens also inspect residential properties and businesses to ensure their waste is stored, transported and disposed of correctly.
