About Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service

Image: Educating CommunitiesNottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and partnership agencies work together to keep residents, visitors and businesses safe from fire and other dangers.

We do this through various activities, which include:

  • Providing a frontline emergency response service (ie 999) from 24 fire stations strategically placed across the county.
  • Advising business owners on fire safety and taking enforcement action where legislation is breached.
  • Supporting vulnerable people who need help with safety at home – either through our own staff or working closely with partner organisations, and
  • By educating communities – how to reduce risks to themselves and their family and friends, from fire and to be safer on the county’s roads.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is committed to ‘Creating Safer Communities’ across the county of Nottinghamshire. One of the many services we offer is Home Safety Check (HSC)

Home Safety Check

Image: Home Safety ChecksHome Safety Checks are a proven method of reducing fires and fire related death and injury.

We focus most of our work on those who are at greatest risk.

People in these vulnerable groups, who are often disabled or elderly, are our priority and firefighters will visit them at home to carry out a free safety check. It takes about 40 minutes and they will give advice and fit smoke alarms if they are required.

People who are not in the ‘at risk’ category will be directed to information about how they can make themselves safe.

This only one of the many areas of work Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service does on a daily basis. We are here 365 days year, 24/7 to respond, protect and prevent fires and injury to communities within Nottinghamshire.
