Stories and Objects

Do you have an object that has a personal story attached to it that you are willing to share? Do you want to learn news skills, share your history and meet new people?

Nottingham Trent University and Mansfield Museum are inviting members of the community to create their own exhibition. The exhibition will celebrate the lives and history of local people by featuring personal objects and the stories behind them. We’re not looking for rare, valuable or even old objects just people with any object that has a story to tell – perhaps an object that been passed down the generations, is unique or has roots in diverse cultures. (Suggested objects so far have been a ponytail of human hair belonging to someones Great Grandma, an empty coffee pot and an old electric rice cooker brought over from Asia that no longer works but is still loved!).

Through four creative and fun workshops, community members can develop confidence and new skills, meet new people and have an opportunity to discover and share their heritage stories.
– This free community project is a great chance for people to share their heritage, socialise and try something new
– The project welcomes anyone living or working locally (including families, community or school groups)
